ipod - audio controls on steering wheel

I had the official ipod connector fitted. Sounds great thru my HK speakers.

The volume control on s/w works fine. However, I had understood - perhaps wrongly, that I could use the channel buttons to shift tracks on the ipod. Either, this function doesn't work, or I picked it up wrongly.

Can you clarify whether you are supposed to be able to use the channel button to shift ipod.

Thanks

Depends which official one you had fitted ?
Is it a jack plug or a dock connector into the bottom of the ipod

Jack plug is just an aux in, no control
You can get the official ipod connector - charges & gives track control
OR
icelink plus - charges, track control, playlist control & on later minis scolling titles on the stereo. - £99

ICE LINK is not a factory part, ( are you it's just a jack that does seem rather expensive for a headphone jack and 3 little connection plugs that simply plug into the rear of it.)

I tried to get you the factory part number for the BMW/MINI Ipod interface, but haven't been able to get it from the dealer, I will try and contact them tomorrow. I may be able to get my hands on the reciept and just tell you what's printed on there.
