Official MINI iPod Adaptor

I picked up my new Cooper S last weekend, I got the official iPod adaptor fitted and to date have had no luck operating it.

I've followed the instructions to the letter, but it seems the car thinks it's a CD Changer and displays "no disc" when the iPod is plugged out the radio displays "No Magazine" I had to bring my car back yesterday to have the wheels changed and I asked them to take a look, the sales guys weren't able to use it but they insisted it's set up correctly and an engineer will call me tommorrow and "talk me through it"

Can it really be this difficult?

Have you got the playlists set up MINI1 MINI2 etc. and make sure they are in upper case when they are created. I think button 6 on the head unit should play all songs also so that may be a good test to see if it is connected correctly.

Yeah, I tried these things, thanks.

My dealer didn't contact me as promised so I called in to another BMW/MINI dealer near where I work (100 miles from my dealer) they had s proper technician look at it and he was puzzled too, I contacted my dealer and they've to take the car in now. Grrrr

I'm just wondering now if it's something to do with the Harmon Kardon or the Bluetooth that's blocking the speaker, apparently thats the problem. I dunno

I have the Factory SatNav, bluetooth and HK and have honestly had no problems so far. It is a dealer fit, so maybe the techie that did it, didn't really know what he was doing. I'm sure I read something else about this somewhere in this forum and it turned out to be that the cable wasn't firmly pushed in properly at the back of the head unit. But haven't been able to find it again.

how much does it cost to make your MINI iPod compatible via the BMW adaptor system?
I'm thinking of getting it done to mine.

Cheers

I am ordering my MCS JCW cabrio this week and am a bit baffled by the iPod options. The salesmen at the dealer was basically clueless...To play iPod tunes through the HK system, what do I need to order? I don't understand what the auxilary jack is for...do I need both the iPod adaptor AND the auxilary jack? Just want to be certain that once the car arrives...I am not disappointed. thanks.
