Question connecting Ipod 2Mini-which devise?

Hey every1,
im new here so jst wanted 2 say hello!! At the min, i have this cheap FM transmitter that allows me 2 listen 2 my pod but i wana change it. I want 2 use my MF wheel 2 change tracks n ive read up and it seems that the official mini ipod thing is not that good (ie. it doesnt allow u 2 use the actual ipod or see the track titles on the stereo). ive also looked at the icelink stuff and it seems that loads of peopleare having probs with it. Can some1 advise me on what will cause me the least amount of probs (seein as im a girl and i suck at wiring ) and wha will giv me the best results. I have a HK with boost and i think its either 2003/2004. Thnk U
(btw i see the typo at the top...deviCe i mean..damn those typos n on my first thread )

hey there, i have an AUX in plug which feeds the sound straight from my ipod to the speakers of the car. you control songs through the ipod and not the steering wheel however! the sound quality is good, and i believe this is the simplest, cheapest and most reliable way of playing an ipod through a mini. but as i said, you will have no control of the ipod through the multi-function steering wheel or radio (other than to increase and decrease volume!)

hope this has helped

Hi there, i just this minute ordered the icelink because you can control the ipod through the steering wheel and you can use the ipod to choose tracks - i think? anyways i let you know how easy the install is and if i have any probs. btw welcome to mini2

hey again. i hate to winge but you should check out the Posting etiquette (big red banner above or below) something about text speak.

about your pictures, if you need to make them smaller you can right click them then go 'open with' and select 'paint'. in there click image then stretch and skew then reduce them by say 80%, file save as and then try again. hope that helps.

ive read the posting etiquette...so what was the prob? Because a comment wasnt in the off topic discussion or because of the short hand, i never knew short hand was a problem but whatever it is, I'll change it i guess!

Installed last week a Dension IceLink Plus. Using the "how to" guides on here it was a very simple job. Ignoring the time it took to figure out I needed more recent software on the ipod, it only took around 30m mins to get the dash apart, install the link, feed the dock connector into the glove box and re-assemble it all.

It's a great bit of kit, allows full control from the MFSW and even get all the text from the ipod on the screen.

Get one, you won't regret it!

I think i would need a plus..not sure...Anyway i certainly couldnt take the dash off, i would worry too much do you know of anyone who can fit it for a helpless case like me??

I ordered mine from www.newministuff.com and theres a nice chap there called mike, if you just tell him what kind of stereo you have (wave / boost / hk) he'll tell you what you need. I think they also do a fitting service there for £40 off the top of my head.

I had to take the stereo out of my last mini and as long as you get the right instructions its not too bad to do but is a bit tricky and you have to be a little forceful if i remember rightly and pull the dash out free from its fixings.

ps sos about the winge above. it was about the text talk, its just that it takes some of us ages to try and work out what your saying.

pps About the vipers, i lost my photos in my gallery a little while back but i got a signwriting company in witney to make up some bespoke ones, they're like matt laminate and are only on the bonnet (not roof and back). I think they look the dogs, ill try and get you some photos.
