United-States Retrofit Dash & Door Trim

I have ordered an 06 MINI (Non S) in Hyper Blue and was surprised to discover that one cannot select the matching dash/door trim for a non S MINI.

I was even more surprised to find out via my MA that you cannot even order the Hyper Blue dash trim parts that go into the Cooper S and retrofit them into a regular Cooper because they are allegedly designed differently. Does anyone know if this is in fact true?

The door trim may be different, depending on which model you have, the One does not have the large door rings fitted over the panel.

But the dash will be the same.

you could just remove your dash and have it painted?

MINIUSA does not list the body colored interior option (in any color) for the non-S hardtop. This is odd because the option is available for all other models, even the non-S convertible. It is easy to purchase and install the colored dash parts separately. However the door ovals only come with the entire door panel.

The dash parts are compatible. You can get the part numbers here: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...71&hg=51&fg=30

All right, thanks very much. I think the reason my dealer/MA is saying it is not do-able is because of warranty issues with me doing the retrofit myself and the part of the dash that goes over the passenger air bag. I guess there may be some liability issues there as well if MINI does the retrofit.(?)

I think that MINI also uses the color matching interior as a way to drive people to upgrade in dollar value purchase MCS, MCSC, and MCCs.

Since you are in the know where can I look up these parts and see prices for them? Or do I have to visit my service dept at MINI?

Numerous people have changed their dash trim pieces, or removed and painted them. Note that starting with 05 models, the airbag design was changed to deploy from the top of the dash (not the front), so in newer cars the trim pieces don't even involve the air bag.

My previous post has a link for the part numbers. You can order from the parts department at any MINI dealer. There are several dealers now that sell parts online and mail-order at typically 20% discount off MSRP. Examples are Classic MINI and Morristown MINI. You can e-mail them with part numbers for price quote.
