Official MINI iPod adaptor not compatible with iPod Nano!

I started a thread a while ago about my iPod adaptor not working, my dealers took the car back to check it out and they've come to the conclusion that the iPod adaptors for MINI's and BMW's are not iPod nano compatitble.

Apprently, they've had more than one customer who hasn't been able to work an iPod nano on thre adaptor.

The thing is, it doesn't say anywhere that they are not compatible and the engineer did say "it must be a design fault" in the iPod nano, as apparently it doesn't work with the iTrip either.

So, I'm left with an iPod, and an IPod adaptor which is of no use to me.

Anyone else had this problem?

Silly question I know but have you tried another type of ipod.
Have you tried emailing apple?
Make sure your dealer has raised a technical query with BMW
MINI/BMW have advertised compatibility and your dealer seems a bit defeatist

Mini Lou,

Have you tried updating the software on the Ipod? I know for a fact that this has kept two Nanos from working.

Hi MiniLou
I have an Ipod Mini and have just had the Ipod adaptor installed by BMW which I think is useless, when you start the engine and drive for about 10 minutes its fine, then from no where turns its self off??? and I can never get the thing to work until I pull over and re-start the engine again??? what a waste of £225.00 !!!!

I don't think that this is a "feature" and probably means the installation wasn't done properly. Give them a call and get them to fix it!

Woza,

I think the issue you are having is the way that your unit is wired and definetly nothing that a trip back to the dealer can't resolve. If the radio is not wired correctly to stedy power (when the car is on) it will automatically turn itself off. So don't fret it, just go back to the dealer.

Glad that you got it working. Typically it is a matter of just not knowing. I just wish that they would simply say "I don't know" rather than give folks the run around.
