problems with nav after dead battery

hey there

so my alarm drained my battery. had to get a jump to get things going.

but now when going to the nav screen it either says right away that there is no disc in the system or after saying for while "please wait a few moments..." it says error reading the dvd/cd...

what happened ?

i tried everything, cleaned the disc etc. but no sucess....

btw while looking for anwers to my problem i did find the newer nav version and was able to install that without a problem... meaning the nav drive still can read cd's, but just not my nav disc...

do i have to buy a new disc ? can i get a free replacement... ? any ideas ?

thanks, all help is appreciated !

Are you still under warranty? If so I would go to the dealer and ask them whats going on. Its odd that its just your map disc that it wont read... I was looking at my NAV CD last night and realized the bottom side (with the data) looks wierd, looks like its getting markings on it, I wonder if it is from the heat of the NAV drive or what maybe warping the CD? I will be contacting my dealer to see if it looks normal to them. If you are under warranty they will probably throw in a map disc and see if it reads it. Since you can update your NAV I would assume that everything is fine with the NAV hardware itself.

interesting that you mention the markings. because that's what i saw on my disc too when i took it out. and i thought i might have scrachted it when i took it out.. i also did use a disc doctor on it with ni success...

yes i am still under warranty, so i'll go in and have them check it out. if an other disc works then i would asume i should be able to get a replacement for free or at very little cost... after all i paid for the software and map already...
