I bought one - thinking I would never use it (my boyfriend talked me into it) I now hardly ever buy cd's anymore -- I'm just now interfacing it into my mini (tonight actually). I use it for gardening, working around the house, I have the bose thing it sits in - wonderful. Can't say anything bad about it. My boyfriend has the nano -- we put tv shows on it and use it on the plane when we fly. It sounds ludicrous to look at a tiny little screen - but it rocks. We plug it into the tv and watch desperate housewives when we have the time. you must get one -- don't live without it. I think the Itunes itegration is really what makes it easy to use. Just buy music and it downloads to your ipod automatically. Much cheaper than buying cds - also.

I bought a 30GB Video IPod when i started planning what accessories I would install on a new MINI (ordered about 10 days ago). I had never ripped a CD or downloaded a song previously. However, with the CD changer costing about $550, I decided to buy the IPod ($300), get an adaptor for the MINI ($150 - $200 to be installed by me), and a wired-in FM modulator for my Subaru Outback for about $125 (that is the only way to install it on a 05), it was an easy decision and I can easily use my music in either car. I have about 350 CDs on the IPod and have used about 14 GB. I still have to spend time and create playlists, but one playlist is everything on the IPod, and I still haven't gotten through the 4,000+ songs the first time. It is amazing not having to listen to what passes for music on commercial radio (except maybe some college stations). ITunes is a free download from Apple, and is easy to learn- no learning curve to be able to rip CDs and download them to your IPod.

Anything I have in my collection worth listening to I put on my iPod. My wife is bugging me to start clearing some space by ditching some of the 700+ CDs that have now been gathering dust for over a year, such is the dominant position the iPod and iTunes pair now have for my music listening. The real gravy on the meat and potatoes though: podcasts. I don't think I've switched on the radio more than twice in the past six months, such are the wonderful options available. Global Moderator
