My knob was provided by Jim and Sherry a long time ago, it has fitted everything since 2002 and will fit the GP , no mods have been required. Still hard , shiny and too hot to handle today too

They modifed the shift lever for the '04 model, by adding a bit of plastic on the top of that flange, where the base of the knob rests. To accomodate that added material, I had to remove about .045" of steel from the end of that inner sleeve. Since I learned of the change, I've been making all the of the knobs that way. Of course, they will fit a pre-'04 shift lever just fine. To get an older knob to fit on a newer lever, you'll need to remove that bit of steel from the end of the sleeve. Takes me about five minutes; but it would be tough to do, without access to a lathe.

The fitting discussions in this thread became a little heated, so I removed some of the posts. The entire original thread can be viewed here: http://www.mini2.com/forum/off-topic...ter-split.html
