Parcel shelf...dash removal question.....MCS2006

Hi,

I purchased the parcel shelf and have a dash removal question on a left side drive MCS 2006. I have no problem getting the top part to release and swing down but once that is down I am having a problem detaching the bottom. It says to swing it down and then just pull it free. That doesn't seem to work. At least it got to the point I thought I was going to break it. There are three points it seems to be connected and the middle just won't come free.

Any help? Please!!!!

Steve.

The connection in the middle is opposite than the ends, i.e if the ends are hinged downwards, the middle is hinged upwards (at least that's the way it was on my '02 and '05). It should come out fairly easily with a good tug - popped right off on mine.

Thanks. did you give it a good tug while it was in the down position or just after you get the top of the existing dash connectors to release?

I gave it what I thought was a good tug when I tried before and the plastic piece it was connected to was bowing pretty good and felt I was going to break it.

Have a good weekend.

Don't quite remember the exact details, but I yanked back and down on the top portion and the connectors just pop out and the bolster drops down. On my '06 the bottom didn't require much force at all - a slight tug at best and it just came right off.

There have been concerns about breakage, but I've never heard of anyone braking anything while removing the bolster.

Good luck.

I just did this. Let it drop down, then pull it so the outer hinges are partially detached, and only the middle hinge is left. Keep it down, wiggle it and pull it slightly down at the same time--it requires a moderate tug, nothing too excessive.
