2-spoke MFSW to 3-spoke MFSW

I know this has come up before, but I couldn't find a thread for a 2-spoke MFSW to a 3-spoke MFSW exchange. Aside from a 3-spoke MFSW wheel and airbag module, do I need anything else for the steering controls to work? Or is it a simple plug-and-play swap? Thanks.

you could go about this two ways if you havent got a MFSW you could buy one off ebay, i will have one for sale on monday, Hopefully if my retrofit goes according to plan! the part number you want is 65 71 0 395 006 (£170) for the retrofit kit if (without steering wheel & airbag module) if you dont already have a steering wheel 65 71 0 029 494 (£430)
or 65 71 0 302 826 (£460) if you have a cooper s these prices are just parts everything fitting is subjuct to mini stealer prices if you dont fancy a bit of DIY! But if you do the full retrofit instructions are http://www.motoringfile.com/howto/MFSW.PDF
Hope this helps

Thanks for the replies. I already have a 2-spoke MFSW on my '03 MCS. But I'd like to swap this for a 3-spoke MFSW as I prefer the newer design. So aside from the high price of a new 3-spoke wheel and airbag module (which I'm willing to pay for), it's just a simple swap...right? Do I need to reprogramme or reset the ECU? Erm, assuming this can be done, I'll have a 2-spoke MFSW for sale soon!

Got my retro kit yesterday. There is not a great deal of wiring to fit, just a huge amount of hardware that needs to be removed in order to fit it hence 4 hours labour.

It's done! Easy swap with no additional harnesses/looms required. Everything from the new 3-spoke MFSW hooked up to what's left behind after removing the old 2-spoke MFSW. It took 45 minutes to do. Unfortunately, I didn't watch the guy do it as I went for lunch!

If you are willing to buy the steering wheel and airbag at full price you may as well pm
Chris at Woodmans as he will do you a deal fitted or not. You may also want to think
about the JCW steering wheel which isn't that much more expensive at Chris's prices.
He will also be able to clear up what parts are needed and official labour times.

Some people are like a Slinky ........ not really good for anything, but you still can't help
but smile when you shove them down the stairs
