Arrggh... Grey/Black Leatherette Q - MINI Cooper Forum

Ok, maybe it's just me, but WHY do the door casings need to change to grey when you opt. for grey/black leatherette?!?!

Is there a way you can request from the dealer you want black door casings? It just doesn't seem to make sense that you wouldn't be able to opt for it, esp. since the grey/black space cloth keeps the door casings black!

It's really frustrating since I really like those seats (as opposed to pure black) but I just don't really like the grey doors - and I dont' want to get cloth. Any clues?!

Id change them afterwards if it really bothers you, maybe you can pick some up on ebay, its a simple job swapping them but just finding the ones you want in good condition.

my 06 doesn't have grey doors... they are black. I think they stopped offering the grey door panels even though the configurator shows them for some reason.

theroyalwe is right. Silver grey leatherette retains the black door panels.

Ask the MA whether MC or MCS causes the difference. Mine is an '05 MCS with black panels, but I recall other postings that the MC got gray panels starting with January '05 production when some of the other production changes were made. see: http://www.mini2.com/forum/interior-...g-coopers.html

Ok, I talked to my MA, and he said ONLY the hard-top base MC comes with grey doors if you get grey/black leatherette... All other models come with black doors... I don't know WHY that is... He said that it's a darker grey, not light like the seats... He said he has one coming in soon, and he'll contact me so I can go look at it... I really need to see it in person, since the dash will be black, the doors grey and the liner light grey,

... I don't want it too look too weird...

I hope I like, since I really don't like the all-black interiors... mmm... well, at least we know...

Ya I saw that pic before, and wondered if that is what colour it is... mmm, is that it or an older model? I kinda like it, but I'll have to see it in person I guess... I like it with the anthracite, which is what I'm getting too...

The interior depicted is in a 2004-11 build MINI Cooper.
