Locking Glovebox in Pre-facelift MINI?

I just tried to fit a locking glovebox to a January 2004 build MINI One without success. It seemed that the glovebox must have changed shape slightly as it would not push in flush. Does anyone know if a new locking glovebox should fit a pre-facelift MINI?

Last year I fitted a locking glovebox in my old Jan '02 build MINI One with no problems..

I'm not sure how old the locking glovebox I fitted was though

Thanks for your reply.

I'm sure it wouldn't go in flush. As a result, the screw at the back of the glovebox was going in at a downwards-facing angle, and the 2 screws on the left and right of the glovebox would go in but the glovebox was about 1cm away from the actual blue clips (i.e. not touching them).

sounds like youve got the box stuck on something as they should be the same. ive fitted a locking glovebox to a pre-facelift one, took a little bit of wiggling about but it went in and everything lined up OK.

good luck!

Hi S33bby

Make sure its lined up correctly and slight it directly into place. I have done one once before and i believe that i am correct in saying that the little blue clips have some movement. Wiggle the small screws in and get them to locate the blue clips and once they are lined up your sorted.

Screw them slowly and staright in and they should all fit flush.

Let me know and good luck!

That would be nice for my 01/02 build MC that has a glovebox that keeps opening. How much did it cost?

I got it from a fellow MINI2 member for £50 + postage (it was for a friend).
