Routing a CD changer cable

Can anyone suggest the best route for a Sony CD changer cable from the head unit to the boot. Last time I ran it under the side trim on the drivers side but there must be an easier route (hopefully)

Have you checked to see if it is pre-wired?

If so you can get an interface box which just plugs in the boot area.

Angry

sadly although it has a CD prep lead fitted once you change to a Sony head unit no-one makes an adapter to fit at that end. All you can have is the BMW unit with the Sony changer which is a backwards step in my book.

Well I decided I just had to have my Sony changer back so I took the plunge and ordered a new set of cables. I ran them behind the bottom door trim and through into the boot coming out via the removal flap. The under dash cover (instead of the old shelf) below the steering wheel hides all the rest of it as well as the three way power supply for my sat nav and inforad.

The changer is mounted using the existing trim screws. The only problem was that the plastic clips don't all come off with the trim, you have to lever them out and replace before refitting.

I now have 6 cd's in the changer and with an MP3 disc in the head unit I have about 14 cd's worth of music at one time.

is the trim easy to take up and run the wires under? I am looking at routing some amplifier wires from the engine bay through the grommet and thru to the boot you see.

The rubber door trim just pulls off then you just have to be a bit brutal and pull the plastic. The clips sometimes stick in the bodywork so you need to lever them out and put back in the trim before refitting. The one right at the rear below the side window by the seat belt is the worst and watch out for the metal clips at the top of the rear trim. You can reach through from inside the rear cover from the boot. Make sure you run the cables under the carpet. Took me about an hour including removing the front pillars etc to attach to head unit.

Hope this helps
