Am I getting sloppy seconds?

I ordered the aux inputs connection from my local BMW dealer (originally went via local dealer Mini but they had not heard if the aux input connector - first worry) snfd thisd is what they gave me (see photo). I am thinking that I may have been given a cable pulled from a previous car!

The dealer then gave me some printed off instructions which showed parts that are included in the kit. This included ties, screws to screw in the plate and the connection should have a plastic plug on the end instead of being three separate wires.

I questioned this at the dealer and they said that this is what I ordered and this is how it comes. Please tell me that they are completely incompatent and that what I have is some cable that they have removed for a car and shoved in a box.

Don't know that they pulled the kit from another car, but per the attached link on realoem, (and personal experience!) it comes with the screws and certainly the connector.

Well, I fitted it and it all works so I am not going to take it back... bit annoying though. The lack of a plug was not an issue as I have Sat Nav and there is already a plug in there. iPod tunes are now coming through nicely using the belkin Auto Kit. All looks pretty neat once set up

Hmm... When you ordered it, did your dealer know that you had a Sat Nav? If so, they may have ent you the kit that you needed. Either way, if it works, then all is good. Congrats.

Connector was £39. They did a check on the reg plate before they ordered it to see if I had the boost CD etc. They may have noticed that the Sat Nav was installed and left off the plug.

I will look at getting a power takeoff cable round the back eventually so that only the iPod docking cable is visible.

I'll get some pics on later or tomorrow but I think there is someone on here already with pics of the setup I have...

(these are from another user with the same setup except I am RHD and I have not installed the aux socket into the vent plate - mine sits behind with a jack connector cable attached and then threaded out under the plate)
