How come on the MINI website the Visibility Pack is said to include auto dimming mirror and rain sensing wipers, but pricing these 2 items up individually is actually less money than the pack??
I can't explain why they would be charging more, however here in the states, the two items you described are part of the "convenience" package and includes the following; Auto headlights, auto wipers, auto diming mirror as well as a built in garage door opener, for a total of $400, or roughly £250. Might be possible the package includes additional features not listed aside from the wipers and mirror
Also, if you're looking at used MINIs, the pack contents changed a little (with '05 model year I believe). It used to be heated front screen, auto-dimming rear view mirror and rain sensing wipers. I think with '05s they added the auto headlights. It's a good option pack, although I think the heated front screen adds quite some weight.
Will the heated front screen interfere with my gps receiver at all?? Also can you actually see the wiggly lines? That might annoy me Are we talking a lot of extra added weight?
I wouldn't mind autoheadlights, but it's not a necessity. Paul: do they turn just the sidelights on during dusk etc., then add the headlights when it gets fully dark, or aren't they that clever?
No they just turn on the headlights, not the sidelights then the headlights when its really dark. How much extra do you reckon the headed screen adds then?
As far as I can recall the auto lights is everything on/off including sidelights at once, but I may be wrong and it might not include sidelights. Certainly not smart enough to do it "step by step" (sides then main).
You can see the lines, but you "look beyond them". I had it on my 2nd S (the Indi Blue) and it was brilliant in the wniter as I had to park in the street at that time. You see them more when it's on, I guess due to the heat they generate?
Not idea how much weight it adds, but I have heard "quite a lot". Very helpful I know.
it can and we used to avoid it for the micro road pilot by placing the gps sensor at the very edge of the screen. Mikey has now started fitting them in the centre ( right in thr middle of the elements) and it works fine. Have had mine there for over a year so it looks like it doesnt hinder much, if at all.
You will notice the lines the 1st time - then you just dont see them. Samll price to be pay for such a great option. while everyone else is still scrapping ice off in the winter your sat in your warm car for less than a minute then on with the wipers and off you go with a totally clear screeen!
No, my current S is pretty much my ideal spec. Nothing on, apart from the LSD (and I got interior lights and storage pack, just as they're "nice").
If I wanted a comfy, hassle free MINI, then probably. The auto-dimming mirror is the part I miss the most, the auto sensing wipers and I wouldn't always agree on the ideal speed (especially if rain-x was applied) and the heated screen was brilliant when called upon, but that wasn't very often. And now I have "day time running lights" the lights are on all the time anyway, so auto lights wouldn't matter anyway.
