England New 02 cooper S, can i have 3D sat nav??

Hi,

This is my first post i picked up my mini today

Dark silver cooper S
Chilli Pack
Aero Kit
sat nav
leather

Had a smile on my face all day!

Ive read the posts and im trying to find out if i can have the £D vie on my sat nav or is it too old, i installed V27 firmware and looked in the hidden menus but no mention of a perspective view?

Is this something that only works on the DVD system and if so how can i upgrade to this system??

any help would be much appreciated.

thanks Steve

congrats on the new car.

Sorry but I'm pretty sure its DVD only and you probably have a MKIII CD based unit hooked up.

I have just upgraded from the CD based (I changed my whole car rather than just the unit!) to the MKIV DVD and its in a different league in terms of re-drawing and re-routing. I loaded v27 the other night and keep it in perspective view now and i am really impressed.

Check ebay if you fancy upgrading the unit - c.£350-400 might get you one.

Regards,

T.

Am i right in thinking that the BMW DVD system is exactly the same so if i bought the BMW one it will be a straight swap for the Mini Cd unit???

Thanks

As this is a BMW V27 upgrade, will the sat nav screen still show MINI or will it change to BMW when getting into the car ?.

Cooper STE the BMW one certainly looks identical and the DVD's they read are interchangeable, not sure what would happen in terms of logo if you put a BMW unit in a Mini

Seems from this thread like the older CD based units (mine's 2002 - v3-1/50) can't handle 3D perspective despite s/w upgrades.

What if we were to upgrade a CD based unit to TomTom 6, is that possible?

to do the 3d view you need DVD nav.

if you install a dvd nav drive from a BMW you still get the mini logo; i've done exactly that
