AC blowing hot and cold

Hey everyone,

I am new here just bought a used mini friday. I have a quick question...has anyone experienced hot and cold air blowing out of different vents at the same time. The 2 right passenger side vents blow cool/cold. The 2 left drivers side blow warm. Any clue??

Thanks for any help.

Don't know really but I'd check that the pollen filter for the A/C has been changed recently and after that I'd say that the A/C might need to be re-gased.

Possibly, somewhere in front footwell by centre console I think.
Don't know exactly where though!
It's normally changed as part of a service by MINI.
Had mine serviced today,Oil inspection, and the pollen or micro filter as it is sometimes called was changed as well.
If you do a search on MINI2 for it you'll probably find out how to change it.
Fergal.

thanks so much for your help. Do you think its odd that the 2 right are blowing coolish and the 2 left are still blowing...just warmer air? Are they on different systems or something and would a dirty filter cause that?? thanks again!!

It is a bit odd alright.
They are all on same system as far as I know.
Check the filter, and after that try a re-gas of A/C.
One of the above should sort it out.
Cheers,
Fergal.
P.S: Enjoy your new MINI,you won't regret getting it!

OK - so by re-gas do you mean take it in and do a freon charge? I checked and the filter under the dash has a cover on it with those special "mini" screws that you have to have the special "mini" tool for, and of course I dont.

Those screws are just a Torx screw, you can pick up a set very cheaply at any good Car / Tool store.

Yep, get the freon level checked. As for the hot and cold, it is also possible that you have a vent that is not closing correctly. Might need to take it in for a service.
