Alpine 420i Ipod interface and setting up playlists.

I have recently installed an Alpine 9965r headunit with an Alpine k420i ipod interface to plat my tunes. Thesound quality is really good however in my opinion navigating through artists/etc leave a lot to be desired namely that it is very slow. The advice i found is to use play lists, however event negotiating a play list with 100 songs can take too long. The head unit navigates the tracks using the new apline glide bar but i think this makes things even slower. How do you guys set up your playlists etc to use thi thing without ripping your hair out because it takes to long, or am i missing something here ?

I've had mine about a week and it seems OK. Not lightning fast but acceptable.

One thing I wish was possible is a shuffle/random play.

how many tracks do you have in your play lists, do you not find skipping through say 200 songs takes too long ?

I'm going to try loading one up with a couple hundred songs in just a bit and then test it.

.........

Yep, slow as dirt. Right at 1 second a track.

Of to read the manual

Yeah thats what i missed at first, but have it now on my alpine 9831R HU, think its function that button 5, which random plays the selected playlist. And my brother has it on his newer spec alpine HU with the k420i interface

i make a playlist for every album i have, plus make playlists containing my favourite songs for difference genre's. For none album playlists i put a 1 at the start of the playlist name, so that they come up first when scrolling through, just makes that bit easier.

Got mine set up perfect, its just about organisation!!!!
