First, make sure you burn the CD in mode 2 . The MK3 is very picky.

Second, the NAV unit is behind a plastic door under the passenger seat. You will need to lift the plastic door.

You are a few versions out of date so this will get you caught up. After this one there will be no further updates needed.

OK, you didn't burn the disk in mode 2..... So, what you will need to do is disconnect the battery for a while and then press and hold the eject button once you reconnect. After that, pop in the newly burnt mode 2 disk and it should start to update.

Don't use CD-RW... Only use CDR as well. The MK3 is old technology and can't read those well.

Fantastic!!! got the computer back up and running and upgraded the firmware!!! man that was scary! thanks so so much for the help guys!!! The little mini is awesome, I have a Renault 5 GT turbo running around 280bhp and have just written off an E36 M3 so this car is perfect with the handling and nippiness of the 5 yet the comfort and build quality of the BMW. thanks so much again guys

Does this download v32 extract to 1 .iso file and then is this the file you burn?
Is it to be used on the mkiv system?

Hi

I have just purchased a 2005 Convertibe with a DVD drive, it has an old edition of the software 02-2004 I think?

I was wondering if there are any downloads or recommendations in relation to updating this information.

Thanks for help

Vaughn

There are two types of "software" the map data and the firmware.

The CD or DVD in your drive is map data and must be purchased from either Navteq or BMW. Updating this will give you better road coverage.

The firmware is loaded via a CD that you will burn and is usually done via a dealer. You can get the latest V31 at Simply MINI if you are interested.

Tis my site and I posted it there.... I used to have it up and running a year ago but I let it fall apart. I figured I would get it back up and running again.
