Lost Nav Voice - new HK head unit and new Nav

Hi everyone,

I've searched in other threads but have just ended up confusing myself - I'm sure someone out there has the answer. Thanks in advance!

I have an '03 MCS with a Nav system and an HK cd/radio. Yesterday my garage replaced my Nav system under warranty because the boot time was up to a minute. I have also had intermittent problems with the volume on my HK radio, so they replaced that as well. Now the sat nav voice is not working.

I've seen in other posts that others have also lost their sat nav voice, but if both the Nav and the HK head unit are brand new (I was told it was what they would put in an '06) shouldn't they work together? I would think that people these days can still order an '06 MCS with both an HK upgrade and the Nav and have everything integrated and working? The garage thinks the head unit is faulty - but I'm not sure that there isn't a fundamental wiring problem. They also upgraded the Nav software to version 27.1.

I am assuming that a head unit and the radio are the same thing - please correct me if I'm wrong (?)

Any info would be appreciated!

I think you will have to alter the wiring, moving the voice wires from the amp to the stereo

Thanks for the info mikeythemini. I was reading another board and it looks like I was getting the head unit and the amplifier mixed up - thinking it was one and the same thing.

The new head requires you to change the wiring from the Sat Nav computer under the seat, it currently goes to the HK amp in the boot and you need to re route these to pins 5C+ and 11C- on the back of the head unit

there's a thread on here somewhere by myself with the details

thanks!

thanks so much you guys, I reread through the thread and now it makes sense - I've asked the manager at the garage and he is going to find out how it was wired by the mechanic. What would the garages do without the mini community?
