They'll need to ask their tech support ("PUMA" in USA) - doubtless there's a setting accessible from the BC1, but I bet very few people know how to do it ... you might try to find someone from USA that got a Canada MINI converted, if there is anyone

I am sure it's just a matter of changing an option.

From my long ago experiments with the BC1, it seems that MINIs are coded with on/off flags for various optional features (foglights, for example) - and also with a "country code" type of setting that determines overall car functionality (eg: auto-close window on driver side)

I'd guess the "country code" also decides whether the dials are in miles or kilometres - so you'd think that if the car was properly set up for "Ireland", it would do the right thing.

However, there's some wierd stuff with the GPs. I can't have my key remote coded to open all locks on the first press - you can enable the option in the cars setup, but it does nothing. Why it's different from every other MINI I don't know, but it is! Maybe this is more of the same wierdness - in which case it would require an update to the base programming to fix

Given that MINI supplied the incorrect item i would seriously consider rejecting the car.
With all the hassle you have of getting the car right now, just think of the future when you come to sell it
I know i wouldn't buy it

Shouldn't matter how long you had the car. My car was delievered with three goodyear all-seasons, and one pirelli sport tire. Didn't notice until I was washing the car three weeks later. The dealer fixed it for no charge because it was like that from the factory.

the dealer is fixing it free of charge,

but i'm not going to demand that they take the car back just because the the digital speedo is in mph, we only converted last year and the mind still thinks in mph!,
i like the car too much and there not getting any more, so i'd be the one losing out
