Help with rattle coming from front far side Harmon Kardon

ok so i need help, i have always had a slight rattle which came from my left front speaker and was told by mini it was prob just a screw rattling around when i had my music up high(lots of base) , but in the past 3 weeks it has gotten worse and has started flickering on and off. so today i decided to see if i had a loose screw or a tear in the cone.
1st problem: strugled like hell to get the covering off, only to find the casing had MELTED to my door! (£14 for a new cover, so no big deal!)
2nd problem: the speaker appears to be a solid state unit so i couldnt remove or see if any screws where missing.
3rd problem: the cone appears normal and intact, but was still rattling, i applied gently presure to the edges and the sound came through full and the rattling stop!

Can any one help me with this, or have any ideas as to what it could be!?!?

any info would be much apreciated!
Cheers

Danni

Sounds like the voice coil in the speaker gone
The grille is not supposed to be removed - it is plastic welded on

Angry harmon kardon right rear speaker rattle

Hi, I have a mcsc with the harmon kardon stereo. The right rear speker rattles/buzzes on songs that have even a mid level bass in them. I took it to the dealer in Pittsburgh to be looked at. Here is their fix; They said " you must clip the rear seatbelts in when the convertible top is down because the seatbelt retractor is mounted too close to the speaker and comes into contact with the speaker causing vibration". They claim that there is a BMW tech bulletin stating this. But why is it only the right speaker ? Are they handing me a load of BS? Thanks , seatraveler
