JCW Alcantara Steering Wheel Question & Poll

Hi

Does anybody have any experience with the JCW Alcantara Steering Wheel??
Does the alcantara become shiny after alot of mileage??

Which would you go for the alcantara version or the leather version.
I'd personally prefer the alcantara version, it has more of an 'M' appeal to me
but i fear it wont age too well????

Thanks

when I enquired about the alcantara JCW parts I was warned to think again, as you have said it is very M, but they are know for the alcantara wearing and going shiney as you are thinking mate

Go for the leather is what I was told, unless you have a good bank balance and are willing to replace the worn alcantara in a few years time

I'd say stick with your current one; I don't like the JCW ones, But that's my opinion and once you have your heart set on something it's hard for anyone to convince you otherwise, so i'd say just go with your errr......erm..Heart!

Alcantara, as its lighter than leather for you GP drivers or at leastthats what Aston Martin said in their V8 track car...

I've got to say I much prefer the all leather JCW wheel. I'm just not sure about that half leather half alcantara look. So go for the leather I say.

where the alcantara is, is not the most common place you will have you hands when driving. so think the wear will be minimum!!

True. No point in it really other than looks.

You need to drive a car with one, looks is not the only point at all!

In fact looks is the least important when it comes to using this wheel

Think those who haven't used one in the flesh can't realy comment on the wheel.

I say Leather for other reasons, but both wheels are mint!

I've got it fitted along with shift boot and e-brake. The thickness of the wheel is great, however I initially found the wheel to be too squishy and soft. I have since gotten used to it and both my wife and I enjoy the feel. She likes it because it doesn't get too cold. They could have added the leather a little higher up each side of the wheel at 10 and 2 oclock. I find with both hands in position I am grabbing leather and alcantara. Wear and tear over time is questionable. I'm fitting the insanely overpriced Carbon Fiber bits to get rid of the boring silver in my otherwise antracite interior. I'll post a pic once the cf bits are on.
