ipod connection to H/K unit

I've had my mini3 -4 months now. I've always noticed that when I have my ipod connected to the harmon/kardon stereo there seems to be quite a lot of hiss. I turned off the ignition, played a song off the ipod and there seems to be loads of hiss in the background. I forwarded to another track, then flicked back to the original track. The hiss wasn't there. I then played around with the volume and the hiss came back, i even turned it down quite low and the hiss remained.
I know its an mp3 player, but the hiss isn't there when I plug in a pair of decent headphones.
All settings on my itunes and ipod are correct.

Anyone else had this problem?

I've got an Ice Link Plus connected to my H/K and I can't says I've ever noticed a problem with hissing. I know this might not be the most helpful comment, but it does show that this isn't the norm with the H/K.

Do you have an Ice Link or is it the official MINI system?
