DPSM questions

A couple of questions regarding the digital power sound module.
1. Can it be fitted along with an aftermarket headunit - as im currently using a Pioneer X1 and use it for sat nav.
2. Think i might have spotted somewhere that its only for cars made after 10.2003 would there be any reason why this is so?

I can't answer your question directly, but if you go to this site you can download the official MINI installation instructions. You may be able to find out from them why your after market head unit may not be compatible.

Possibly, but only with the HK Enabler available from NewMINIStuff.com.

If you're going to fit an aftermarket head unit, there's absolutely no point fitting the DPSM. It's a very expensive system and is only beneficial if you specifically want to keep the factory stereo. Speak to Mike from NewMINIStuff and he'll be able to give you plenty of advice.

Same here; a friend of mine had it installed. But if you want to change the stereo, there's absolutely no point to it IMHO. My friend got it precisely because he didn't want to change his stereo and the car only came with Boost (had it have been H/K, he'd have left it).

I wanted to get a sound module but my quote for parts labour and vat came to £1600 !!!

Its plainly not worth it... how much is it to retrofit H/K ?

I don't think it's much cheaper to be honest. It's a big job.
