Help with Dension IceLink Plus

Hello Everyone,

I'm a newbie here. I just purchased a 04 MCS a week ago and I love it! All the threads here are incredibly informative. Thank you!

Sorry my first post is to ask for assistance, but I've about had it with IceLink Plus.

So here's the situation,

I purchased a used IceLink v2.02 plus to play my 4 gig Nano (1st gen) through my stock radio w/ nav (connection in the back where the changer is suppose to go).

I hooked up the IceLink late last night and everything worked fine except I couldn't see any titles on my HU so I started fiddling around and downloading updates from densionusa.com. All of a sudden, the title showed up on the Nav screen, but it showed as a telephone call. This screen was so annoying because I couldn't get it to turn off. I would switch to the nav map and the telephone screen with the title would flash back. I thought I did something wrong.

So I downloaded the carif_clear.mp3 file and played it. After this it was all downhill. Sure enough the telephone screen disappeared, but so did all functionality of the IceLink and Ipod. The only thing on the ipod screen now was a refererence to go install.dension.com to configure the IceLink.

I figured out that I must have deleted the BMW firmware. I downloaded the BMW's firmware according to the instructions on the website and played it before I docked the ipod, but everytime I dock it, the ipod pauses and goes to the "install.dension screen."

I can't get the IceLink to update with the BMW firmware for the life of me. I don't know what else to do. I tried calling dension this morning and they said they haven't supported the IceLink Plus for 8 months.

I tried unplugging the IceLink to hopefully have it reset. I've tried reseting the ipod. I've even tried unplugging the car battery.

All deadends.

Please help, if anyone knows or can suggest a solution.

Thanks,

Gene

, I just responded to you on NAM. I guess I should have checked my own forum first.

As I stated, the Icelink Plus and OEM Nav do not play well together. If you are after text, this is not the solution for you.

2B2 is the latest firmware and you probably need to download it and run it to solve you current issues.

What's this all about? Isn't the Icelink Plus on their current product line?

This only applies to the US, where it has been replaced with the DICE.

What S33BBY said. The original poster called DensionUSA not Dension. These two are not related kinda like MTHUSA and MTH.

So i tried to upload the firmware with no success. Everytime I play the start_update.mp3 and dock the ipod, it pauses n the visit install.dension.com screen pops up.

Anyone know why the IceLink won't take the firmware update?

Have you tried to reset the Ipod? Also, I think I reember Dension saying that the Ipod should be empty other than the firmware. However, it sounds like you are doing the right thing.

Maybe Mikey has an idea?

I did try to reset the Ipod.. Didn't work I've combed through the Dension support center many times, no luck either. I tried calling Dension here in the US and the tech guys have no clue because they stopped supporting it here.

Is there any other way to download the firmware besides using the IPOD?

Not that I know of. Why not just register at the Dension site Dension Support Center and submit a support ticket?

And if you do, don't expect a reply for at least a month. At least that's the experience I had.

You're such a nice person, Mikey! I'm going to remember you the next time my Ice-Link goes bonkers.
