Its the HTC TyTN. Although it is sold under many names depending on the network provider. Mine is under vodaphone and they call it the qtek 9100. Its has been good, but lately it keeps crashing, and doing stupid things (i wont go into detail :P) so i am tempted to ring vodafone today and swap it!

Due to the faults on the phone i am also swaying more towards a dedicated gps unit now. And thanks to Hat i think the model of my choice would be a tomtom ONE Although I have no money at the moment so untill I do i will be relying on my usual method, my head

I run my on a windows 2003 mobile phone and it runs great. However, the wife has a Palm PDA and it runs like utter crap. If you are going to go the PDA route, you will need to spend some money on a good PDA.

Apparently the navigation bit of it is rather pants, especially re-routing. Obviously the speed camera warning is good, but I have heard the database has got errors, including wrong positioning of cameras and wrong speed limits too.

Hmm, I promote the NUVI as much as possible. I love mine, carry it around like an IPOD. So the real question... when is Garmin going to post up the MINI srf files we all know exist on their support site? Afterall, you've got a tank and a sled there!

I've tagged this onto the end of an old thread to show that I have searched...however seeing as over two years has passed, I think it is worth having this discussion again.

I am looking into purchasing a satnav unit. I don't want to spend too much, but clearly want to get a good one! Ideally it would have Europe maps, but UK only would probably be ok. My mini currently does not have bluetooth or ipod/usb upgrades, although it does have a MFSW. These functions would be useful if they can be integrated into a satnav unit (particularly the bluetooth).

I have been looking at the Navman units (thinking that TomTom/Garmin are generally much more expensive for what you get), but am happy to be swayed if there is a really great unit out there!

Also, on a similar line, does the fitting of any of the aftermarket kits (like those from newministuff) adversely affect the warranty on the vehicle???

Thanks.

EDIT: To avoid any confusion, my mini is 2nd generation, however this post is in the 1st generation forum.

Garmin is actually my selection of choice. They seem to be the most stable and have the best map coverage but your budget. Speak to Mikey at www.newministuf.com and see what he can do for you.
