England JCW Seat DIY, airbag deactivation question

Hi guys,
just brought a second hand set of cloth JCW seats & was planning to install them myself.
Have spoken to 2 dealers so far about disabling the side Airbags on the ECU.

Dealer 1 (southend) wants something in the order of £150 plus to disable them, stating there are additional bits required (not the fitting kit, which i already have but seatbelt reels etc !)

Dealer 2 (romford) wants £110 wasnt too sure about exactly what's included.

So.

Has anyone had a dealer in the essex area deactivate the bags for a more reasonable price.

or

Can anyone confirm that the 3.9 ohm resistor trick works OK, and if so any ideas on the wattage for the resistor, maplin seem to have a choice. Has anyone had to fit additional parts beyone the fitting kit ?

thanks ......

I have that very same resistor fitted into my seat airbag connector.

It has been trouble free since March.
