i have a Nokia N80 with Tom Tom 6 on it w/ an external Bluetooth GPS. u must take a BT GPS SirStar III
it works perfectly (i mean the signal is very strong and there is no mistake on the roads) and you can have speed checks radars on it (either statics one and mobile ones)
the battery lengh of the BT GPS is more than 10 hours using it, so i have too keep my cell on charge when travelling for a long time
when travelling thru Florida last summer, i used it and it worked perfectly
u can go for it eyes closed
if you need any picture from my cell, just ask, i ll send u
MD, if hands free is your prime consideration, you can do no better than the ViaMichelin X980-T.
You can talk to it straight out of the box -it's brilliant, and not only that, if a POI has an associated telephone number, tap it and you'll be talking to them in seconds. It also has (in my opinion) the best mapping available, even if it follows the Michelin atlas corporate mapping style.
On the downside is price - getting on for £400 - and the fact that you cannot save a planned journey, which for me is totally unforgivable.
Try ebay - just updated my old Tom Tom 300 (same as Tom Tom one) with new maps, speed cameras, variet of voics and POI on a new card, (528mb - so double size of old one) with cd back up for £40 Just put new card in and off I went - works great
