Parking Distance Control

How does this work ppl?

I know its got sensors on the rear bumper ... but are there any extra switches inside to turn it on/off.

Also how audible is the warning, will it be louder if say the radio is loud.

Are the rear sensors colour coded into the bumper (for Cooper), don't want it to spoil the back side!!

Hi MINIblue,

There is no way to turn off PDC.

It is loud enough to get your attention. It does not get louder to compensate for the radio, but I haven't had any problem hearing it over the music.

The rear sensors are the same color as the bumper. Sorry, I don't have any pics of my rear bumper to post right now, but I can take one later and post if you want to see the PDC sensors.

Youve gotta be taking the P****!!

I'm sorry but unless you are Mr Bean, I dont see any reason why anybody needs PDC on a MINI. I actually thought it was joke in then options catalog.

Also note:

Even though the PDC sensors are color-coded to the rear bumper, they are still quite noticeable as little round things all across the rear bumper which I think disrupt the smooth line of the bumper.

PDC seems like a fairly worthless option on the shortest car sold on the market. It's not even like there's a trunk lid or rear overhang to worry about, for all practical purposes the car ends at the rear window, so it should be very easy to park.

Could find better things to spend $300 on

The above is a pic I took of a MINI with PDC. There are 4 of these sensor's along the bumper.

I have PDC on my S, love it.... as some have stated, it's not really necasary but I'm a gadget freak and love anything that flashes or beeps. It's also a lot of fun when you have people in the car who don't know about it - you can really shock them when you back up to 2 inches from something. Sometimes they notice the beeping, sometimes not - either way it's a good laugh.
