Adding a tuner / dvd to my satnav

Hi,

Cant believe i have not found this forum before.. So much useful info

I was wondering if i could connect a standard tv tunerfor cars as you find on ebay on to my factory 52 plate satnav? Plan was then to use a cable to connect from the tv tuner into a dvd player..

Any ideas or tips / alternatives. I have seen setups for minis to convert it over, but they are way too expensive

Cheers,
James

There are aftermarket units that allow you to display an arbitrary video source (TV, DVD, game player) on the SatNav screen. Here is one vendor (there are several): http://www.gnetcanada.com/navvideo-overview.asp. The device is simply a video switchbox that allows selecting the Nav computer or a video aux as the input to the SatNav screen. Even MINI has a video switchbox, meant for the OEM rear view camera, but its connectors are not standard RCA. You'll need to feed audio into the stereo's aux input.

Thanks for the reply,

That does sound like a good option, will the one in the states work on my UK mini? Also anyone know of a UK vendor?

Reading the description this device is needed before i can connect up a tv tuner to the satnav?

So it would go inline with the satnav, tv tuner connected to this module, and then i can add a dvd player if i wanted.

Dont really want to spend more than 300 all in, anyone point me in the right direction???

Cheers,
James
