I have searched but cant find any one with previous experience of this make of "sticky on" chrome line interior, i saw a post about a westlands one being good however.
I dont want to mess around with my dash so would this kit be any good do you think people?
I see these quiet often on ebay although they look good and probably are, im not a fan of sticking things on my MINI id rather have the full replacement kit instead of sticking it on!
But if your happy with that way then they should look okay!
Personally I don't like the stick-on ones, of any make, that I've seen. As they leave "gaps" inside the rings of the fans etc to allow full movement, whereas the OEM kit replaces these parts completely. But many people have them and are completely happy.
I put a set of these on my MCS two years ago just before Mini brought in the official kit, havent looked back. Think I got a set in an auction for like 20 quid. Didnt put the tacky switch covers on, only put on the bits I liked.
I know the company that manufactures the genuine chrome interior pack/bits for Mini are based in Southend-on-sea, Essex. If you would like their contact details I'll post them when I get back to home. Mark
Cheers for the respone people, i would of bought the OEM set however i am useless at taking things apart, and didnt want to spend a fortune paying a dealer to do it for me!
I think i will go for this set, i suppose if i dont like them then ill have to save my pennies to pay for my uselessness !!
My brother has this on his cooper it looks really good. It fits well and if you don't want to rip the dash to pieces its good option really easy to fit!! He loves it!!
I suppose it depends on how much time you have on your hands and cash flow as a guess the direct replacement would be more expensive
To be honest I bought the stick on ones before MINI started doing theirs but I bought stainless steel sets from Germany off ebay and they looked so much better as they were actually moulded to fit perfectly. That was back in 2004. My sister has the plastic stick on stuff and it looks good. I wouldn't put the switch covers on or the steering wheel horn covers and I hate the chrome surround of the mirror adjustment panel. My Mum put that on her Park lane and it looks wrong! Put its all personal preference in the end!
There is a number of parts you can get from BMW like the hand brake and the dimmer and emergency button surrounds which are easily fitted. I would say go for it Its a much easier and cheaper fix than buying a whole new rev counter from BMW! It completely transforms your interior.
Great thats what i was hoping someone would say . At the end of the day i should of specced it because it really finishes the interior off! Also would like the cooper s pedals to finish this off! Any OEM places i can get these for a decent price i wonder! I will sort this out first though then start another thread
The handbrake chrome is not inculded with this though, does this come with the OEM kit?
Yeap. You can get the leather grip chrome end hand brake from BMW as this is what I did. Can't remember how much but I think around the £12-20 mark. I also had the Cooper S Chrome pedals on my One too. They looked the biz with all the chrome! They were around £100 with foot rest too
Cheers for the replys people, think im going to choose the link i initially posted, see what they are like! Will post pics after birthday next saturday!
