Stereo Help

I am looking to replace the standard head unit on my Cooper S and I have a Sony to put in. I'm new to this so I need some advice on what I have to buy to do the conversion. Also I have steering wheel controls for the stereo which I want to be able to carry on using. Thanx.

Idiot guide would be appreciated!!

I have just done the same job on my cooper and replaced the head unit with a bluetooth sony with ipod controller.

You need:
1. Wiring adapter to connect mini wiring to new head unit.
2. Facia adapter to secure new head unit to dash.

All this is available from newministuff who advertise here. The DIY sections show you how to remove the relevant areas of trim so that you have a trouble free install.

You only realise how mediocre the Boost stereo is once you have a replacement installed!

Good Luck !!

You also need an aerial adapter to connect the bmw lead to the back of your head unit.

Thanks a lot for this, it really helps. Do you know if I need anything else to make sure the stereo can still be controlled from the steering wheel

I dont think that was ever a UK unit. I'm pretty sure its the same as the CDX-F5700. That was the one with the switchable illumination. I think it had 6 different colours or summat....

Stereo Help

The stereo I have was supplied and fitted from BMW Mini a few years ago when I had a Mini diesel, I dont think it is available anymore. I have looked on the 'newministuff' site and found a Sony to boost MFSW adapter for 2 spoke wheel, will this do the job?

Cheers
