Swapping Cassette Headunit for CD Headunit

Hi guys

Ive just bought myself an 03 plate cooper s, im chuffed to bits with it but want to change the stereo set up. It currently has a the Mini cassette Headunit with Cd changer in the boot with Harmon Kardon upgrade system, but i want a Mini CD player up front, compatible with the CD changer and H/K system. Does anyone know what CD player i would need.

Any help would be appreciated

I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, but I believe that H/K is supported by any Mini headunit.

What you'll need is a Mini CD player, a Wave to Boost adapter and a CD changer adapter - assuming your tape player is WAVE (round pins) not Boost (flat pins).

The adapters can be bought from NewMiniStuff (top two items):

NewMINIStuff.com

or from MINI/BMW under part number 65120148581

sorry for the hijack, but im in the same situation as kel13 although i got an ipod connector. I take it i wont need a different adapter for that as all the aux inputs are the same?

and reason for cd as well as ipod, the wife's cd's are not on my ipod and they must be listened to on long journeys!!

cheers,

Niall

Might want to buy that head unit.

Hi, Kel. I'll be picking up a car next week that I want to put the cassette head unit in, as I have many cassettes. I'm in the States. Let me know if we can do a deal. Carl

another hijack here,

but if im running a pre facelift headunit will an old style cd unit (c. 2002) fit with no adapter or do you need an adapter no matter what? also do the older head units have an aux in point for the ipod adapter? few different kinds on the bay but the older ones will sell cheaper....

cheers,

Niall

All CD's have the same connection
All of them have a CD changer connection which you can add an icelink to
Only later ones have aux in
