Dension Ice Link FM / iTrip?

Hi All,

Anyone have one of these, or seen any of these in action? My girlfriends car doesnt have an Aux in, nor any way to connect an iPod. Its also not a MINI stereo or MINI

The only solution is the Dension Ice Link FM - found here :

iPod Car Connection Kit - Vauxhall Accessories

or the iPod iTrip (Again sends signal via FM)

Theres no way we can connect the Aux / Changer cables e.t.c., so FM transmitters are only option.

So does anyone have one of these, and could recommend one? I did hear that in built up areas you get interference, and audio quality can be poor.

Before we go out and buy one, just want to ensure its worth it.

Thanks

I have a Monster ICarPlay and it works alright. The hard part is finding free freq to use it. You will get some static from time to time and may even have to switch channels but it does work OK in the wifes Suby....

I have an I-Trip, works better in some places than others, but overall its a brilliant piece of kit for the money. I personally havent had an problems with built up areas, but if you choose your chosen station carefully you can reduce the interfierence.

Hope this helps
David

I use a cheap one off the internet its basicly the belkin model minnus belkin badges. I play music off an ipod, a PSP and a couple of cheap mp3 players you have to turn them up loud qualitys ok but miles better than the dodgy cd player on my less than pistine cds.
I use 108 and get no interference.

Thanks for your replies so far.

After a few replies, went off searching and found this:

http://www.play.com/Electronics/Elec...p/Product.html

Only £18 and does what the £80 Dension does (Charges via cig lighter though) and got good reviews

Looks like that may be the one

I dont think that will work with the MINI, because if you think about it when you put it in the cigarrete lighter it will be pointing up towards the heater control, therefore you wont be able to see the screen nor function the ipod. I use an ipod holder with my itrip in one of the cup holders, it works great.

I have this, it charges your ipod at the same time. It is pricey from here, look around and check ebay, you should be able to get it cheaper. The belikin and the itrip don't charge it and the itrip will use up the battery quickly.

IMHO, all FM transmitters are crap. You can't avoid the static and, unless you live in the boonies, you'll always come across a radio signal that will overpower your transmitter. I've had the Ice-Link Plus hooked up for over 2 years, but for various reasons, I decided to try an FM transmitter on a whim. I didn't even make it out of the BestBuy parking lot before I had that sucker back in its packaging and got my money back.

Go with the DICE-Link or something similar.

Totally agree with this but the fact is that some cars (like the Mrs.) don't have AUX or any way to hook anything into it. So, FM transmitter is the cheap way to go.

After listening to the quality that I got from one of those $100 wireless FM transmitters, I'd go without. Or, better yet, I'd use it as an excuse to buy a new car.
