Illumination Query For Boost Gauge

Hi,

I've just installed a boost gauge to my MCS. I want the gauge to light up when I switch my headlights on. I've bought some 5amp wire from Halfrauds, is this ok? (it does say its for interior lighting).

Secondly, I want to tap into the side light power supply, can I do this behind the bumper, and if so which colour wire do I tap into?

I've never done anything electrical before so just want to make sure I get it right first time. The wiring is all in place, I have earthed it in the engine bay and the wire for the live is in place ready for connecting up.

I would have thought the ciggie lighter would be easier to tap into?

The lighter is constant 12V and he needs 12V only when the lights are on.

I have not done this, but I would think that what you are trying to do is possible. Mikey might have better information.

Tap into the ilumination wire on your cig lighter (grey) IF it illuminates - later ones didnt
Otherwise I would tap into the sidelight wire at the radio

Whats the best way to access the lighter feed? Do you need to take the center console out?
