Jesus, the MINI alarm is LOUD!

Hi all,

Not much point to this thread really, but my car has the optional alarm on it. (I think its a Thatcham approved one too) I somehow accidently set it off before in the garagae, and my god the thing is LOUD! My ears were ringing for abit afterwards.

One good thing though, I'm now a bit more confident that its a good deterent should the worst happen to the car...

Regards,

James.

I was going to ask this question actually! My mate set mine off a few weeks ago but I havent ever heard it go off before that!? How do you actually make it go off . I asked him and he said he was just sat there, but I cant see any movement sensors in it and for the life of me not matter how much i move around with it locked it wont go off!!

Just bought a Mini Cooper S !!

Hey futureal33,

the sensors are behind a small plastic housing mounted centrally in the middle of the roof lining panel (looks like some sort of roof vent square with vents). If you have the panoramic roof it will be at the rear again centrally above the parcel shelf in roof lining. There is also a tilt switch/shock sensor behind the rear passenger side boot side panel.

hope info helps.

Mine goes off randomly and for no reason. It's been back to the garage and they can't find anything wrong with it. I'm getting fed up with having to switch it off in the middle of the night. My neighbour isn't v happy about it either

I once had a car ( not a MINI ) that had that problem. I found that disabling the interior sensors by doing a double click to lock solved the problem. It might be the same on your MINI.

Hope this helps

Yeh it is aint it!

Good thing though, because its nice to know its got the potential to scare off any would be theives...

Seems like a few others have had the alarm set off randomly, its the 1st time mine has gone off since I got the car in December. I'll keep an 'ear on it' and make sure it doesnt start malfunctioning.

Regards,

James.
