i had a CD based system in my 52 reg cooper s, tried an upgrade and it messed it up. Took me a good couple of days to learn how the system worked to find a fix for it. Got the upgrade loaded on in the end and got a map disk from ebay but didnt notice any changes...SO....
I got a mk4 DVD drive from ebay, havnt looked back since, its so much better. save your time and money and look for a DVD system.
I know I am not strictly a MINI user (though I often get one as a courtesy car!) but I have a major prob with my BMW e46 sat nav. I tried to go to version 2.91 with a download from the x5 website, everyone else seems to have it working fine. Mine doesn't
The disk was put into the dvd drive in the car, turned to ignition point 1, then....the system tries to read the disk...constantly and reboots....constantly.....nothing else happens!
And to top it all off the disk is stuck in the dvd drive...H E L P ! ! ! !
I think I made a big mistake by burning it onto a DVD r/w disk, fair enough but how to I get it out of the car??
Hold the eject button down for about 30 seconds and then press it trhee times. That should "hopefully" get the disk out. Then you can reburn 29-1 to another CD and try again.
Thanks for the advice, but I have tried holding the button down, hitting it many times, for anything from 30 seconds to nearly 10 mins. Also tried removing the fuses to cut the power but no joy at all.
I am going to have to take it to the dealer tomorrow, lord knows what that will cost...!
Hey Flakey,
I have downloaded the proper V26 file for the Mark 3 thats now on your site but still no joy, not sure if the sat nav is frazzled or it's simply not booting from the CD, i don't have a mode 1 or 2 option on my Mac software ( toast but i have tried burning from the iso and have just opened the disk up and burnt all the contents into a data CD - all at x1 speed - ill try that after work and see how i get on.
I was looking around the Roxio forums and I don't see a way to make Toast Mode 1 or 2 selectable. Do you have access to someone with a Intel PC? I think that your problem is that the CD is in Mode 2 and the MK3 is choking on it.
Big thanks to Daflake & Mark ( Meeerrrk ) with advice and links regarding my sat nav - i have gone the whole hog and am now on the Mark IV DVD unit and it is so much better.
Just a tip don't double post, and you get a better response if you start your own thread rather than hijacking someone else's, I have answered your question on your other post.
Not quite the right thread as it is for the factory satnav on an MK1 MINI.
I can't see how the power adapter would determine if the Garmin's sound works or not. If it charges the unit then it's the right one. All 12v sockets are the same. They either work or not but won't switch your satnav to "mute". Do you expect the sound from the unit or via the radio/aux in?
