I personally wouldn't have a cradle at all. It's just one more thing on show. You won't leave the iPod in there, but there's plenty that will break the window to see if you've left it in the glove box. Get the dock connector and wire it into the glovebox I say (that's what I've got). ![]() 2006 MINI Cooper with JCW Sound Kit - sold July 2009 Now driving Golf VI GT TSI 1.4 160PS

I've currently got the cradle in the glovebox, which works great for my iPod. But when I get my iPhone, I'll want it in view while I'm driving. The other option is keeping the cradle in that little driver's cubby hole, then just moutning it on the dash when I want to use it. I'll be putting the iPhone in the cradle every single time I get in my car, so I want it to be quick and easy. If I get the dock connector, that means mounting the iPhone somewhere, then fiddling about with the cable plugging it in. Hmm, got some thinking to do ![]()

He he...currently weighing up the different options. I'm taking your advice and just getting the dension dock connector though, and tucking the lead away when not in use. Option 1: iPhone mounted onto magnetic mount like my current phone is (small piece of metal attached to back of phone). Pros: Simple and quick to mount (ooh). Cons: Messes back of iPhone up and causes problems when in cases etc. Option 2: Some sort of small/thin iPhone mount that can also be magnetically mounted, but the piece of metal will be on the mount rather than the phone itself. Pros: keeps iPhone back nice and smooth. Cons: Less convenient having to dig mount out every time. I'm currently leaning towards Option 1...but I'll wait until I actually get the iPhone and play around with some ideas ![]() I hate browsing the iPod using the Icelink as it's so slow scrolling through all the songs/artists and you have to constantly keep looking down at the headunit (dangerous!). The 5 playlists are good, but limiting. I'm looking forward to quickly browsing on the iPhone itself, which will be in arms reach. The only downside is tracks selected on the iPhone itself (rather than the headunit) don't display text on the headunit, but as the phone's mounted anyway it's just a minor point. ![]()

I think this is where the new MINI is much better. At the moment, we're connecting our iPods to a car that was never designed for this, and so it's as good as it can get. ![]() 2006 MINI Cooper with JCW Sound Kit - sold July 2009 Now driving Golf VI GT TSI 1.4 160PS
