Dashboard sections

I bought a new dash off ebay a while ago and its different to my original dash, instead of having a seperate section over the passenger airbag its just smooth with no split. does this matter? would it still be safe to fit? its a genuine bmw part, so it should be ok. help!

No, wrong part I'm afraid.

You're car is pre july-2004 "facelift", that is for a "facelift" model. (See here: http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?f...ni_generations).

Basically on the update they moved the airbag so it bursts out above the hard plastic area, not through it.
