New owner with questions.

Bought a 52 plate Cooper S with Sat Nav and have a few questions i need help with.

1. I have the Boost system and want to upgrade the speakers as i like the OEM radio. Is it best to pay more and buy the HK ones from MINI or to buy some aftermarket ones?

2. What are the advantages to upgrading the Sat Nav disc as i have been told i makes it clearer?

3. Lastly where do people tend to go to get an iPod cable?

I can answer a all of these for you.

1. As posted above, Mikey is the source for all things MINI (music wise). However, you can't just add HK speakers as they are 2 Ohm dual coil overs and can't be driven without the amp and a WHOLE bunch of rewiring and work. Not easy. There are better solutions for a car without HK.

2. Depending on what model NAV you have there are updates available to firmware and maps. It won't make things "clearer" but it will add some functionality to the system. If you go to the setup screen in the upper right corner are some numbers, post them and that will tell us more about what model and firmware you are using.

3. Ipods and NAV can also be handled by Mikey. He sells the Dension models (Gateway and Icelink). Both of these will work but you will not get text on the screen as you have NAV. There is a new solution on the market that is worthy of us NAV owners but it is a bit more expensive. It is the Intravee (Intravention - Home) and it works well with the NAV. It basically allows full control of the Ipod from the NAV screen. I have one and love it.

Im extremely tempted to upgrade to the Stereo speaker upgrade package for £525+ VAT from Mike and newministuff. Anyone had this done at all that could recommend it.

I was looking into getting a speaker upgrade but i may aswell renew it all on one go.

Minicabrio had his done by Mikey and loves it. I would suggest that you go see Mikey and see if he has something that you can listen to before you buy.
