Where to hard wire my Tomtom one!

Hey all, I have just bought a new tomtom and was wondering where the best place was to hard wire it??

On my first mini, a car audio specialist company installed the power into one of the blades of a fuse, and took the power directly from the fuse box, I think this is dangerous, so is there another 12v power source somewhere? Preferably near the drivers side a pillar.

Any ideas!

Has had too many minis

Yep... pull a line off the lighter live feed, follow back up the main loom till have to split off and then take it to wherever you want.

Just making sure , you are wiring on another female cigarette socket right??
If you snip the tomtom supply wire snap direcft on to a cable from the original socket your gonna give the sat nav 12 V and then its bye bye sat nav!!

Where i work we try and work from the back of the Cig lighter but if thats too hard to access we connect it to a cable at the back of the fuse box that is ignition controlled i.e. try and find the fuse for the cig lighter and connect to that.
make sure you have cable that has an in-line fuseholder too just to be safe.

Mikey the Mini does an excellent power take off cable which fits in line with the original cig lighter lead, it's fused as well! Thats what I used on mine.
