No AUX on my CD53 R50?

I have a 2003 , Radio is a Alpipne CD53 R50. Jan 2003 is date on head unit.
Just installed the AUX adaptor to the back with no problems, plugged in my Ipod and can not get "AUX" to come up when I hit mode or get the Ipod to play through the system?

Any suggestions?

Thanks, MackDaddy

Any chance that if you go into settings you can choose what modes are available? Thats what i had to do on my iDA-X001 to enable the cd changer....

Hope it helps

Not sure, but I don't think that your radio has Aux capabilities. There are no settings to be made and it should pick it up if it was there. I think that Aux came on the scene in late 2004.

Nothing can help other than buying a new radio. You don't have aux capabilities.

It seems clear that nobody really knows the definitive cutoff date for aux capability!
Can anybody with working aux please tell me the date of their unit so I can ensure I buy a winner!

In addition, how does the headunit know when to display CDC on screen, when it receives signal from the Cd changer/iPod? Surely there must be some other pin because the CDChanger is not normally outputting music until you choose source CDC!

I can actually tell you. Late 03's were equipped with AUX so if you buy an 04+ you will be sure to get it.

My understanding is that there is a handshake that occurs when the CD changer is hooked up. This is an IBus system so if you want to learn about it, I highly recommend you google BMW IBUS.

I finally got my April 2003 unit working with aux today!
It needed some capacitors and resistors adding to the iPod lead, plus I had to use punouts c3 c4 and c10, rather than the CDC input pins!
