Central rev counter?

Hi all,

I've just come across this picture on the forums, and I noticed straight away that the rev counter is in the centre.

I have never seen this before, I thought there were only three options for the centre console?
  • Factory Sat Nav
  • Speedo
  • Chrono package
Do you still need two pods above the wheel with this set up as with the chrono and the nav? Obviously one is required for the speedo.....

I'm not considering it, but I'm just interested as its not something I have ever seen before. I'm sure someone can shed some light on it for me though.

Regards,

James.

I believe this is how MINIs are set up in Australia where they have to have the speedometer directly in front of them.

Perhaps one of the Australian M2ers can confirm this?

Australian spec? Isn't it the law there that the speedo must be located directly in front of the driver? So they have to switch the standard speedo and rev counter positions.

It's not something unique to Australia, but the two previous posters are indeed correct that it was designed specifically for the Aussie market. In 2003, it was an option to swap the position of Tacho and Speedo when ordering a new MINI in the UK and Irish market. Very rare to see it over here though!

How bizarre. But kind of cool if you''ve got it for the novelty factor!
