Ok, so disconnect and reconnect has had no effect. Screen did display a "wait one moment" note but then went back to the last position. Funny thing is that i went to London today so am now officially in the middle of the english channel. Bonjour to all!

At this point I am at a loss. I would try checking the connections at the back of the unit, but if you are seeing sats, you should be getting a lat long. Hmmm.... Maybe it is time to upgrade to an MK4.

Hi again!
Ive checked connections and all seem okay. I thought maybe i could install the newer firmware so i burnt the V26 iso file to cd and popped the little beauty into the computer. A notice came up saying "loading iso software" and then the screen went blank!
I now have nothing on the screen at all. Do i need to use the "nav key " and if i do, do i just burn the data to disc and put that in? or do i need to do something different?
Please help

Thanks Russ

1/63 is the last update for the MK3 so you really didn't need to update.

Have you gotten the CD out? If not, you might need to hold the eject button down for about 30 seconds and then press it three times. This will force the unit to eject the CD.

What happened with the unit is that you burned the CD in Mode 2 instead of Mode 1. The unit is very picky about this. Also burn at the lowest speed possible.

You might need the CD key as well (burn mode 1 at low speed). to unlock the system. This was only needed for the MK3. Both are available at Simply MINI — Let’s all be addicted!

Thnaks Da Flake. I downloaded both the files at Simply MINI but was unsure what to do with the cd key as it displayed 3 files once opened (although i couldnt actually open the files individualy). I was using NTi to burn the discs so did not get an option to use mode 1 or 2 so am downloading a trial version f nero 8 to see if that does the trick. Will post back in a while.
Thanks Russ

Have burnt the iso file again using nero at the slowest speed, and in mode 1.

Now all i have to do is get the other disc out as it wont eject it! Tried disconnecting battery, holding eject for 30 seconds and then pressing 3 times.............................gonna try my prefered method in a minute and kick it ;-)
