I'd take it out but I think I'll be left with holes showing

Today I fitted the retro-fit armrest that I asked the mini dealer to supply when I picked the car up over the weekend - I hadn't even got it out of the box when I posted yesterday.
Dead easy, just remove a torx bolt on each seat runner, and slide the armrest bracket under. Reassembly is the reverse of removal
I changed the front seats today as well, so while they're out it's even easier.
It's not the factory-fit armrest, the bracket is just black painted steel, but you can't see the bracket closely unless you tilt the front seat forward. Came in a mini box anyway.
30 mins absolute max including tea and finding the right torx bit in the depths of my garage

That one is the easiest one of the two to fit, plus I don't think it matters which model that one is for as I think is's the same for soft-tops & hard-tops due to the way that it fastens in .

Can anyone comment on which is the sturdier of the two armrests, the one that bolts under the seats or the other one?

Cheers

Mike

No answers to last post!

I went into the dealers Friday, and they gave me the instructions for fitting the newer armrest, not the type that bolts under the seats but the other type. Only thing is, the instructions don't tell you how to change the centre console from the old type to the new. Anyone have any ideas about how easy it is to change this.

Also my last question still stands, which is sturdier?

Ours is the underseats mounted one - minimal movement with my elbow leaning hard down on it. Looks rubbish when the seat is folded forward - just a bit of black painted bent steel, but the strength is fine.
