You can specify for the multi changer leads to be fed through to the boot but I am not to sure if if this is only available on boost stereos.
Have u ordered yet?

Welcome to MINI2, if you haven't already got your MINI then make sure that 'CD prep' is on your option sheet! It won't cost you any extra but you have to ask for it these days

If you already have your car then lift up the carpet in the boot and on the right hand side there should be a cable with two plugs on it, it will be obvious if its there! Otherwise remove the small panel on the right hand side of the boot and look in there. If it's in neither of those places, you haven't got CD prep.

These are the plugs:

Also look inside the right rear compartment for those connectors. Mine were wrapped with masking tape as you can see in this picture:

The standard headunit is never going to be as good as your £300+ aftermarket jobbies... The Boost ones are ok, but Wave is just pants.

Not on it's own, but you can get a part from BMW 92 86 1 000 069 for £61 which will make it work with the Boost head unit

the MINI has gone...

Ah thats a good point, it might be worth speaking to BMW first maybe they can point you towards someone at Sony who could answer your questions.

How old is the CD changer? The part number I gave is an interface to work with the latest changer (T67 I think)

The head unit changes the discs when you press the numbered buttons normally used for radio presets. As you say it could be that the remaining 4 discs won't work.

Good luck though, let us know how you get on.

P.S. Speak to you parts they might take the interface back if it doesn't work with your equipment

the MINI has gone...

I have the factory fit autochanger, its a sony 6 CD that you can buy from argos £250 i think. I am on my second one after the first jammed after only a week. Not sure if it was a bump i went over since the sports suspension plus is a hard ride. Got the second unit fitted yesterday after waiting a week and a half for a service appointment however the dealer swapped it out for a new one without asking, got to wait for the cd's that are stuck inside it now - gah!!!!! We shall see how the new unit fares over the Huddersfield roads (must be the worst in the UK).

Monsta, how did you find out there was a interface that would allow Sony changers to work with the stock HU. I have a brand new Blaupunkt 10 disc changer that I would love to be able to fit in my mini, any ideas??
Cheers Limey.

The interface is listed in the back of the new MINI One, MINI Cooper, MINI Cooper S and MINI Accessories Price List 2002.
