Interior door handles...

Hi I have a 2005 One Cabrio, which I have had for two years. I am now looking to show it a couple of times this season. Only problem is that the previous owner (MINI/BMW UK) has scratched the painted silver interior door handle. Does anybody know if this can be seperated from the rest of the door card and painted? If so does anybody know what the paint is or recomend who could do it or do I have to replace the whole door card?

hi there,
it can be done but all the interior parts of the door card are plastic welded together.
if the handle is scratched on the silver part that you hold to close the door mine was the same.i bought a cheap airbrush set £12.and masked off the area and used ford stardust silver.lots of very fine coats.its now perfect.cheers mark

Mark, Thanks for this. Did you rub down the handle first? Also can the fabric arm rest be removed? Any recomendations on where to buy the Air brush? Sorry for all the questions, final one the Ford Stardust silver i take it this is bought as a touch up stick and thinned for use in the air brush? Thanks in adavance Paul

hi paul,
yes rub down the scratches with 2000 paper,you can get the airbrush at machine mart on any hobby shop.bought the paint from halfords in a can sprayed some into container and thinned it out with thinners.after the paint was on put a lot of thinners in the airbrush and very carefully wentover the area just painted to flick in the edges into the old paint so no lines or joins.if your car is 54 [facelift yes the handle will come off.if not just mark it up.goodluck mark
