New Head Unit - Sat Nav Voice Gone!!

Hey all,
I have just got a new head unit for my 02 Cooper S with built in Sat Nav.
The new unit has just been fitted but there appears to be no input for the sat nav voice guidance leads ( 2 leads, one to mute and one for the voice i assume).

Halfords ( the people who fitted it called someone and they said you cannot use the sat nav without the factory stereo..that's gotta be crap right!!!!..
I have told them i'll check on my Mini 2 forum ..Can you boys & girls help me out here?.

Old stereo : factory unit ( boost) with 6 CD changer in the boot.

New unit: Sony CDX-GT50UI - made for IPOD head unit

Basically they are right. However, I think that Mikey has a unit that will play the voice out of a speaker. Not sure if it works well or not. The nav will work, just no sound.
