Dashboard Rattling! Can someone please help? I have an 2004 MCS and there is a rattle coming from the dashboard, but only under hard acceleration. Ie. when you are fully accelerating and have disengaged one gear to change up, there is a rattle from the dashboard, this goes when you engage the next gear. I have had it examined by my local BMW garage and they say it is just a rattle coming from behind the dash and this is not covered by the extended BMW warranty (as it is not electronic or mechanical) and will cost me approximately £500 to fix!! (that is because the labour rate is £150 per hour plus VAT). Has anyone else encountered this problem? As I don't exactly trust the garage and their diagnosis. Thanks |

| I have now got my car back from the BMW garage and they still have not fixed the rattle it went in for and charged me £500 odd for the privileage!! ![]() Admittedly the slight rattle comes under heavy acceleration (sounds like the speedo needles might be vibrating inside) but the garage diagnosed the dashboard as being at fault. When I returned it approximately 5 mins after picking it up, the senior "Technician" told me that he could not hear it and that they would never drive it as hard (as I had to demonstrate the faul) to test it . He also told me that the car will not be perfect as it is a 2nd hand car. But if if got worse I should take it back (like duh!) To top it all off it still has to go back for a new folding mirror motor, as the garage "only" had the car for a week and didn't fix the mirror. Although it was diagnosed as being faulty by the garage, went it to be fixed and the "Technician" then re-diagnosed it as being fine, hence no fix. When I collected it my Aftersales advisor checked it and said it was faulty. It was at this exact point I told him that they are only my garage by default and that their customer service is S**t (numerous problems have occured with them prior to this, so my patience had run out). I have seriously had enough of the shoddy treatment from the dealership and BMW that, I feel I would not buy another BMW &/or Mini and have even considered trading my car for a Golf GTI (although I do love the car). |
